a friend of mine was murdered last spring when she was havin the time of her life travelin round the world... a young relative committed suicide last winter... and recently a dear friend lost her boyfriend... we all have reasons to mourn and we all should let that process take time... as long as you hold on... stay brave...

The Eyptian Lover är artisten och innovatören bakom “American Electro-Hop” (electro hiphop) med samma pondus som giganterna Kool Herc och Afrika Bambaataa i sin historiska betydelse. Utan Egyptian skulle musikscenen och klubbarna se radikalt annorlunda ut idag. Han var inspirationen för en ny våg av experimentell hiphop under 80-talet och än idag är han många producenters referenspunkt, en mentor för exempelvis franska Ed Banger, holländska Clone Records, brittiska DMX Crew och Bass Junkies liksom Miami soundet generellt. Snoop Doggs “Sensual Seduction” (2007) är en hyllning till soundet och dynastin som Egyptian odlade. Under 2008 har han turnérat med artister som M.I.A., rustad med en arsenal beats att fylla världens största klubbar, festivaler och arenor.

Arabian Prince är en förbisedd legend och representant för västkustrappen. Han var en av grundarna av N.W.A liksom en viktig profil för utvecklingen av hiphopkulturen i California generellt, vilket skildras i dokumentären “Breakin’ and Enterin’” (1982). Arabian började under tidigt 80-tal intressera sig mer för den amerikanska electroscenen, och snart producerade han hits till artister som JJ Fad med “Supersonic” osv. Efter att ha lämnat gangsterrappen för blippiga samples går Arabian idag under alias Professor X, med ett albumsläpp på Stones Throw - Innovative Life: The Anthology (2008). Arabians singlar från guldåren 1984-1989 finns kompilerade på skivan, inklusive electrohiten “Take You Home”.
